Job Description: The News Reporter position performs a wide variety of reporting assignments. Covering a “beat” and may work investigative articles and in-depth series which may have regional/national significance. Covers special assignments and regularly seeks out far-reaching story ideas, human-interest pieces and sidebars. Develops and maintains a wide array of contacts within various areas of the community. The top candidates will be self-motivated, exercise sound news judgment, and be proficient in AP style and crafting interesting, well-written features. They must also be capable of tweeting, shooting/editing video and photography.
• Reports on assigned stories.
• Seeks out new and different stories.
• Crafts accurate and timely stories and meets submission deadlines.
• Develops community contacts.
• Protect confidential information and sources.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
