Job Description: The Lawton Constitution, a family-owned daily newspaper in Lawton, Okla., seeks to hire a sports reporter to join a five-person staff and assist with a coverage area that includes 35 high schools, Cameron University (Division-II) athletics, University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University football, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The primary focus of the position will be coverage of Lawton's three city high schools, Lawton High (6A), MacArthur (5A) and Eisenhower (5A).
Recent college graduates are welcome to apply. We're looking for someone who’s a skilled storyteller, able to build solid working relationships in the community, and experienced in using social media to build an audience. Page design is a part of the job as well. We operate on Quark. Experience with this is preferred but not required.
Lawton is a city of 100,000-plus people that’s a 90-minute drive from Oklahoma City and an hour drive from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. It’s home to Fort Sill, a short drive from the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and scenic Medicine Park.
