DESCRIPTION: The Journal Record, a daily business newspaper in Oklahoma City, wants you to make our Web site the best in the state (but we’re planning to conquer the nation next week). You’ll be the front person for all Web content, developing story ideas, writing some content yourself and keeping fresh content flowing onto the site throughout the day. You’ll be an innovator in the newsroom as we add podcasts and video feeds; you’ll also be a world-class blogger who reacts to news in a snap. You’ll update content as it happens, both in your own words and with content provided by our reporting staff and wire services. Collaborating with the managing editor, you’ll find new ways to present information to our readers who prefer the electronic platform, be it desktop, laptop, PDA or iPhone. You’ll drive interactivity, too. To do all that, you’ll need to have solid news editing skills, including story prioritization, line editing, proof reading and knowledge of story structure and planning. Ability to interface with and motivate reporters, assign and edit stories, basic understanding of Web site technology including some HTML, PhotoShop and Flash. Bonus Points if you speak Cold Fusion.
