Melba Livermore, who was retired from the newspaper business, died Jan. 17, 2013, at Inverness Village in Tulsa, Okla. She was 93.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church at 1401 East Taft Avenue in Sapulpa. Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa, Okla.
Melba and her husband, Ed, met at the University of Oklahoma School of Journalism where they were both advertising majors. They married in the spring of 1940.
At one time, the Livermores owned three newspapers – the Sapulpa Herald, Claremore Progress and Edmond Sun. Ed served as president of the Oklahoma Press Association in 1959.
Melba is survived by her husband, Ed; three children, Ed Livermore Jr., Sarah Spencer and Mary Bush.
