Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department
$20 per hour
Under varied supervision, the publications manager will be responsible for all aspects of content creation, trafficking, and editing of Travel Promotion guides and brochures in the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department (OTRD). The Publications Manager will work with a variety of professionals — including writers, graphic designers, factcheckers, production managers, Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department staff members, and others — to coordinate and facilitate projects from start to finish. In addition, the person in this position will create and monitor the production schedule for each project to ensure that internal deadlines are met in order to meet print and delivery deadlines. This position requires a detail- and quality-oriented manager with media savvy and exceptional organizational, writing, and people skills. The Travel Promotion workflow is not always linear, making the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously a must. Tasks will include executing creative concepts for agency guides and brochures in a collaborative environment, hiring freelance writers and factcheckers as needed, working with OTRD’s photography department to procure photographs, editing and writing content, overseeing factchecking, and coordinating project proofing, changes, and approvals with Travel Promotion staff and project art directors. This is a permanent project position with variable hours (on occasion, fewer than full-time; on others, in excess of 40 hours per week) and no benefits. The position will office at OTRD in downtown Oklahoma City.
