Bring the best of your creativity and news judgment to Oklahoma! We need an experienced page designer and newshound for our daily afternoon newspaper in Southeast Oklahoma. If you have a solid news background, know your way around Quark, and have the vision to make our news pages pop, we want to hear from you. Successful candidate will build news and sports pages each day, create graphic elements to bolster local stories and photos by our award-winning team, and build feature pages and sections on a regular schedule. The ability to work quickly and efficiently is essential; good news judgment and headline writing skills are welcome assets. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to our online development. We enjoy the best of small town living – three cars backed up at the stop sign constitute a traffic jam here — in the green rolling hills of Oklahoma. But big city life is just an hour in Tulsa, or three hours southbound in Dallas. Lake Eufaula offers great fishing, boating and other recreational opportunities just minutes from our front door; a vocational school and a satellite college campus offer a range of higher education programs. We're a CNHI paper and offer competitive pay and an excellent benefits package complete with 401k option. The McAlester News-Capital is the leading news source for Southeast Oklahoma, publishing an award-winning print edition six days each week. Our team is seasoned, hard-working and dedicated.
If this sounds like your type of shop, send your top 5 news, sports and feature (pdf) page samples, resume and references to: Editor, McAlester News-Capital, 500 S. Second St., McAlester, OK 74501 or email@example.com
