Learn to write award-winning columns and editorials in a workshop led by editor and opinion writer Ted Streuli. Streuli will take the fear out of speaking your mind on local issues, pop culture and personal experiences. If you are going to write an editorial or column this year, or ever, you need to attend this workshop. Of course, that’s just our opinion.
The seminar will cover:
- Personal columns
- Editorials
- Reviews
Discuss ways to keep a column fresh:
- How to find new ideas
- Topics you should never write about
- Specific column styles such as humor, three-dot and reportorial
Learn new techniques for opinion writing:
- Every kind of editorial ever written
- What reviews should include (and what they shouldn’t)
- How to structure your column

The Journal Record Editor Ted Streuli has won the OPA-ONG Sweepstakes Award for both column writing and editorial writing, as well as many monthly awards. His columns and editorials have also helped the Journal Record place first in those categories in the annual Better Newspaper Contest for the past six years. He has also won the Associated Press Oklahoma News Executives first place awards for column writing, editorial writing and reviews each of the past five years and enjoyed similar success in other contests, including the Society of Professional Journalists and the Texas Press Association. Streuli has more than 20 years experience and has been the editor at The Journal Record since 2004.
