John McCann has joined the Oklahoma Press Association as a postal consultant.
McCann replaces Bill Newell, who retired in January after serving in the position for more than nine years.
McCann has 31 years of service with the USPS, beginning as a letter sorting machine operator and moving into the periodicals department.
For the past 11 years, he has been the Periodicals Specialist for the state of Oklahoma.
Much like his predecessor, John spent much of his time travelling around the state talking to publishers and publications helping them with their postal needs.
Outside of helping state newspapers navigate the U.S. Postal System, John plays piano and sings in a postal choir.
“I’m looking forward to working with the state’s newspapers,” said McCann. “If you have any questions, give me a call.”
McCann can be reached on his cell phone at 405-408-4473.
