Manager, Student Publications

Location: Edmond, OK - University of Central Oklahoma
Salary: $35,000 - $41,496
Duties: Reports to the chairperson of the Mass Communication Department. Oversees the budget, operation, and web production of student publications including printing, computer technology, goals, and planning. Supervises business and content (print and web) production and operation of the student newspaper "The Vista". Supervises student production of blogging, podcasting and social networking.  Serves as adviser to student employees. Teaches classes each in the fall and spring semesters and in the summer semester. May supervise one Administrative Assistant I. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required: Bachelor's degree. Minimum of four years experience in publications and print journalism. Experience in current computer software and Internet web technology for online production. Experience with new media such as blogging, podcasting and use of social networking.
Preferred: Master's degree. Experience in college teaching and sponsoring student organizations. Experience in organizational leadership and budget preparation and administration. 
In Addition: Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, human relations, public relations and organizational skills. Computer proficiency preferably in Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience working effectively with a wide variety of constituencies, including students, staff, faculty and administrators. Good supervisory, report preparation, training and project management skills. Accounting and budgeting skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to hire and supervise employees. Ability to make policy and procedure decisions. Must be detail-oriented.
