LSP Model Documents
Each
year the LSP Committee provides educational information to LSP members.
During the past year the committee developed a few model documents and
policies that we hope you will find helpful. You don't have to adopt or
use ANY of these policies or documents. However, some papers have asked
for guidance on these issues.
Some of these
documents you will want to customize or alter to fit your specific
newspaper. We hope you find these documents helpful and the LSP
Committee will continue to work to help newspapers constantly improve
and defend their legal rights.
The sample model documents are listed below with a brief description,
followed by a word document you can download and customize to your use.
1. MODEL CORRECTION POLICY/PROCEDURE:
For you to keep on file in case a person asks your paper for a correction.
2. MODEL RETRACTION POLICY:
Retractions
are different than corrections. State law sets some retraction
standards that, if followed, can be beneficial to your newspaper.
3. MODEL COMPUTER USE POLICY:
Many
papers are concerned, as are all industries, with use of their company
computers for personal purposes. This model policy is intended to give
you
guidance in this area.
