The Claremore (OK) Daily Progress seeks an experienced, digital-savvy editor-general manager to lead its award-winning newsroom.
Applicants need at least five years of management background, knowledge of the operations of all newspaper departments, versatile journalism skills and the ability to inspire and coach the entire staff to produce quality work for print and online.
This is a hands-on position requiring initiative, imagination and sure-footed editorial and administrative judgment. The editor-general manager is responsible for all news and opinion content, the newspaper’s design and layout and general operations.
The editor-general manager is a key member of the senior management team and thus must be able to communicate clearly, contribute to the overall success of the paper and make smart decisions.
The Daily Progress is a five-day newspaper (no Monday and Friday editions) that features website and mobile breaking news feeds every day of the week.
Claremore is a suburb of Tulsa in northeast Oklahoma. It is the Rogers County seat, site of Rogers State University and the longtime home of Oklahoma’s “Favorite Son,” Will Rogers, the early 20th century humorist, entertainer and journalist whose life-size bronze statue reading The Daily Progress sits on a park bench outside the newspaper’s front door. The community of 18,600 residents is known for its picturesque neighborhoods and bustling commercial district.
