Don Mecoy to fill OPA Board vacancy

The managing editor at The Oklahoman has been appointed by the OPA Board of Directors to fill a vacancy on the OPA board. Don Mecoy was appointed to the position of director, which was left vacant when Alan Herzberger resigned his seat because he is no longer employed in the newspaper industry. Mecoy covered business news at The Oklahoman for more than a decade before being named managing editor this year. Prior to that, he worked on the newspaper’s city, state and metro news desks, including a stint as city editor.
Other members of the Board of Directors are: President Brian Blansett, Tri-County Herald; Vice President Ray Dyer, El Reno Tribune; Treasurer Jeff Shultz, Garvin County News Star; Mike Strain, Tulsa World; John Denny Montgomery, The Purcell Register; Mark Millsap, The Norman Transcript; Zonelle Rainbolt, The Cordell Beacon; and Shauna Belyeu, The Eufaula Indian Journal.
