Job Description: The Norman Transcript is looking to add to its award-winning editorial department by hiring a crime and courts reporter.
This reporter position would require the individuals to cover breaking crime news and report on police and law enforcement-related news. The reporter will also cover important trials and put together a daily package of crime briefs for the paper.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a beat reporter at a weekly or daily newspaper, preferably with experience covering courts and crime. Strong writing skills, a working knowledge of AP Style, and the ability to efficiently produce a large amount of copy is a must. Photography experience is preferred, but not required. The position will require some work on nights and weekends.
The Transcript has been published since 1889 and is located in Norman, Oklahoma, one of the largest cities in the state and home to the University of Oklahoma. Norman also features vibrant Campus Corner, downtown, and University North Park shopping districts, an active arts and music scene, and more than 50 parks.
