National Newspaper Week, an annual celebration and recognition of the important role of newspapers in their communities, will be Oct. 3-9, 2010 (Sunday-Saturday). This year’s theme is “Newspapers – the print and online connector for today’s communities.”
A promo kit will be available Monday, Sept. 13, and can be downloaded from www.nationalnewspaperweek.com
. The kit contains ads, editorials, columns and a crossword puzzle written by Patrick Jordan, advertising manager of The Ponca City Daily News.
The focus of this year’s National Newspaper Week campaign will be on the importance of newspapers connecting their communities. Even with the advent of social networking, newspapers are the main connecters for most communities.
National Newspaper Week has been sponsored by the Newspaper Association Managers (NAM) since the 1940s. This year’s promotion was coordinated by the Florida Press Association and the Florida Society of News Editors.
