WHO can serve on a committee?
Any staff member of an Oklahoma Press Association business
member newspaper is encouraged to serve on one or more of the
committees.
| WHAT are the duties of a committee member? |
You need to volunteer some time to serve your committee. Most committees will meet approximately once a month via teleconference in addition to two formal meetings during the year. Prior to each meeting or conference call you will be sent an agenda and asked to bring suggestions relevant to the committee you serve.
WHY should I volunteer?
There are several reasons to serve on your associations committees:
provide new ideas that benefit the newspaper industry, address
problems affecting Oklahoma newspapers and lead the newspaper industry in new directions. The best reason to serve on a committee is because you are the expert.
| WHEN are meetings held? |
Meetings and teleconferences are scheduled at various times throughout the year. However, the OPA tries to schedule meetings and calls on either Thursday or Friday. Committee meetings at the OPA office generally last three hours or less. Lunch is served at those meetings.
WHERE are meetings held?
Most committee meetings are held at the OPA central office, located at 3601 N. Lincoln Blvd. in Oklahoma City.
HOW do I volunteer?
There are four ways to volunteer: 1) E-mail your name, newspaper and the committee you want to serve on to sscott@okpress.com; 2) phone Sally Scott at (405) 499-0034 or toll-free in Oklahoma at 1-888-815-2672; 3) complete the form and fax it to OPA at (405) 499-0049; or return the completed form by mail to OPA, 3601 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73105.
| OTHER questions? |
